Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) on The Strip
Babies born at Sunrise Hospital who are premature or have a serious health condition get specialized care 24 hours a day. Our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) offers compassionate monitoring and treatment from a team of specialists who are trained in caring for our smallest, most fragile patients.
To speak with someone in the NICU or to get more information about visiting, please call us at (702) 961-6750.
Our Level III NICU cares for premature babies, low birthweight babies, and those who have medical conditions or need surgery. If an infant needs to be transported to Sunrise Children's Hospital for a higher level of care, our NICU transport team is available at a moment's notice.
In addition to board-certified neonatal doctors, the newborn care team consists of:
- Specialty-trained nurses
- Neonatal nurse practitioners
- Respiratory practitioners
- Social workers
- Case managers
- Developmental specialists
- Lactation specialists
Many of our team members are in the unit around the clock, dedicated to our tiny patients and their families.
Services we offer
Our services use new technologies in neonatal treatment and monitoring, including:
- Nitric oxide, which works with a breathing machine to treat respiratory problems in premature babies
- High-frequency ventilation, which reduces lung problems
- Treatment for cardiac, neurosurgical and gastrointestinal conditions
We offer individualized treatment for acute and chronic conditions such as breathing difficulties, heart conditions, infections and birth abnormalities.
The NICU also has specialty infant beds designed for the safe monitoring and stable environment high-risk infants need. To ensure safe medication administration, we use the most advanced pharmacy safety measures. Additionally, we have a dedicated infant/pediatric pharmacy staffed by trained pediatric pharmacists.
The teams in the NICU include experts who place specialized IV lines and respond to high-risk newborn deliveries. All these measures ensure the highest level of care for the most fragile infants.
We offer families additional support through child safety and CPR classes as well as sibling classes.
