60 years ago, Sunrise Hospital opened its doors in Las Vegas. Renowned for its world-famous resort hotel showcases, the Las Vegas “modern as tomorrow” hospital was the product of a distinguished collaboration among the business leaders, hotel architects, doctors and engineers.

The mission at the time was simple. This “big idea” was to build a hospital for the community that would offer the best of care, superior facilities, comfortable and pleasant surroundings.

“Sunrise is a privately operated community hospital whose structure combines an absorbing interplay of sunlight and restful colors, interesting textures, unique fabrics … and a host of professional people – the heart of a hospital – with functional planning of every details and for every inch of its 40,000 square feet of space.”
Las Vegas Review Sunday, Dec. 14, 1958
“It was one of the highlights of my career to build a facility that takes care of so many people and where so many babies are born,"
-Irwin Molasky, prominent Las Vegas building contractor and vice president of Sunrise Hospital

Now, Sunrise Hospital is the premiere acute care facility in the region with the largest Emergency Department in the state, the most comprehensive children’s hospital in the region and the workplace of choice for 3200 employees. We are the first and only Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center in Nevada. We have achieved and maintained the only National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers in Southern Nevada. We have the only pediatric open-heart program in Nevada. We are home to many more firsts.
