LAS VEGAS, NV NOVEMBER 23, 2015– The Breast Center at Sunrise Hospital is proud to announce its latest offering, 3D digital mammography also known as breast tomosynthesis. This new offering, makes The Breast Center at Sunrise the only accredited breast center in Southern Nevada to offer 3D mammography.
The Breast Center utilizes SenoClaire™, GE Healthcare’s new breast tomosynthesis solution designed with a three-dimensional imaging technology. SenoClaire, which was approved by the FDA in 2014, uses a low-dose short X-ray sweep around the positioned breast with nine exposures acquired with a “step-and-shoot” method, removing the potential motion from the tube helping to reduce blur and increase image sharpness.
“At The Breast Center at Sunrise we are committed to offering our community a complete suite of solutions – from screening and diagnosis through treatment and monitoring,” said Todd Sklamberg, CEO, Sunrise Hospital and Sunrise Children’s Hospital. “SenoClaire 3D digital mammography offers our patients a new, more accurate solution to help clinicians detect breast cancer with low-dose radiation and high-image quality.”
A key challenge when performing screening mammography is keeping the radiation levels as low as possible. Unlike other 3D mammography units, with GE’s SenoClaire, there is no increase in radiation dose from a 2D standard mammogram to a 3D view, which means there is no increased radiation to patients during a SenoClaire breast exam.
Accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), The Breast Center at Sunrise is the most comprehensive breast center in Southern Nevada. The Breast Center at Sunrise features board-certified and fellowship-trained dedicated breast radiologists, a multidisciplinary team approach and a breast health nurse navigator to provide education, support and care coordination. Additionally, The Breast Center at Sunrise is an American College of Radiology Breast Center of Excellence.
