Sunrise Hospital Trauma Services Initiates “Stop the Bleed” Campaign Teaches Community Life-Saving First Aid Tactics

In an effort to prevent deaths from traumatic injury, Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center Trauma Services is offering public education to teach the general community the basics in applying first-aid methods to control blood loss until help arrives. “Stop the Bleed” is a national campaign and call to action launched in October 2015 by the Department of Homeland Security.

Myriad trauma events can occur anywhere and cause uncontrollable bleeding including car crashes, accidental amputation or gunshot wounds. While first-responders are on the way, anyone can come to the aid of an injured person by using proper tourniquet techniques and wound packing.
