Sunrise Hospital Trauma Center joins Trauma Survivors Network
Sunrise Hospital Trauma Center joins the American Trauma Society’s Trauma Survivors Network (TSN). By joining TSN, Sunrise Trauma Center has access to a network of enhanced resources to help trauma patients and their families recover following a traumatic injury.
The goal of the TSN is to help trauma patients and their families connect and rebuild their lives. Patients treated at Sunrise Trauma Center have access to TSN which is committed to:
- Providing valuable, practical information and referrals;
- Connecting survivors with peer mentors and support groups;
- Enhancing survivor skills to manage day-to-day challenges; and
- Developing online communities of support and hope for trauma patients and their families.
“The road to recovery following a traumatic injury extends far beyond the hospital,” said Todd P. Sklamberg, chief executive officer, Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center. “By joining the Trauma Survivors Network, we can ensure patients have access to the support groups and resources they need to support their recovery process. This is a testament to our commitment to the well-being of our patients and their families.”
Traumatic injuries are sudden, unexpected and often life-altering. Extensive research on the recovery process and psychology of injury and disability strongly indicates that full implementation of the TSN can have a positive impact on post-trauma outcomes. The TSN also supports family and friends with the unimaginable loss of a loved one.
“Sunrise Trauma Center is proud to become part of the Trauma Survivors Network,” said Dr. Chris Fisher, medical director and trauma surgeon, Sunrise Trauma Center. “Having access to additional resources to support the psychological needs of a trauma patient and their family can help ease their anxiety and frustration and ultimately may result in positive long-term outcomes.”
