LAS VEGAS, NV February 12, 2016– Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center is aligning with a leading provider of hospital medicine services to improve both the patient experience and better manage care at the bedside. TeamHealth Hospital Medicine will be exclusively managing around-the-clock care for Sunrise Hospital patients needing to be admitted from the emergency department.

Hospital Medicine is delivered by “hospitalists” who are physicians providing care only to hospitalized patients. Sunrise Hospital will be using TeamHealth hospitalists to care for patients who either do not have a regular primary care physician or when physicians’ opt to have a hospitalist provide care for their inpatients. Currently, a majority of Sunrise Hospital’s ER patients do not have an active primary care physician at the time they are admitted.

“It is priority at Sunrise Hospital and part of our going commitment to the community to provide the best patient experience possible,” said Jeff Murawsky, chief medical officer at Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center. “That means bringing consistent hospital medicine to every bed to improve care effectiveness at all hours of the day and night.”

The contract with TeamHealth takes effect April 1, 2016 and covers managing the hospital’s general medicine “on call” schedule for one of the busiest emergency departments in the Valley. Consistent inpatient physician coverage helps to decrease the amount of time a patient spends in the hospital and curtails readmission, in addition to improving patient satisfaction.

“We are pleased to partner with Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center to provide Hospital Medicine services,” said Michael D. Snow, president and CEO of TeamHealth. “TeamHealth is a national leader in providing acute and post-acute physician services, and we are committed to a successful collaboration as we bring our expertise and best practices to Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center.”
