With a mission to provide an active way to honor and celebrate our nation’s heroes, the Carry the Load National Relay will make a Las Vegas stop on Saturday, May 13, 2017.  Las Vegas is the 16th city on the route during the 31-day, 6,200-mile National Relay. Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, a member hospital of Sunrise Health System, will play host to the Las Vegas Rally beginning at 4:00 p.m. The event will draw demonstrations by our first responder community and featured speakers, including Brendan McDonough, the lone survivor of the elite firefighting team (Granite Mountain Hotshots) that lost 19 members in the 2013 Arizona wildfire.

“What started as a mission to restore the true meaning of Memorial Day has broadened to include more than just our military heroes and more than just one holiday. Carry the Load works to bring all Americans together to participate in honoring our nations’ heroes every day. This is a concept we wholeheartedly endorse,” says Dr. Jeff Murawsky, Chief Medical Officer of Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.

Las Vegans wishing to support our Veterans, active duty and first responders are invited to join the Carry the Load Relay Team during its Las Vegas stop at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center along the West Coast Route of the 2017 National Relay. The community is encouraged to visit exhibits and interactive displays on the hospital’s north parking lot and cheer on the Relay team as they continue their 4100-mile trek to Dallas. Sunrise Hospital will also recognize Veteran first responders as part of the pre-Memorial Day event.
