Comprehensive Burn & Reconstructive Center of Sunrise Hospital Now Serving Adult, Pediatric Patients
An elderly person falls to the hot asphalt at the grocery store, a restaurant staff member spills scalding water on herself, a child is burned while sliding at the playground. As they live, work and play – many Las Vegas residents and our millions of visitors – are at risk of suffering severe and devastating burns. Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center has partnered with Burn and Reconstructive Centers of America to form the new, comprehensive Burn & Reconstructive Center of Sunrise Hospital, now open and serving adult and pediatric patients in Nevada and beyond.
Burn and Reconstructive Centers of America represents the largest burn network in the world, bringing to Sunrise Hospital state-of-the-art, cutting-edge technology and unmatched, premier care for burn and wound care patients, both inpatient and outpatient services. Jay Coates, DO, a 40–plus year resident of Las Vegas and innovative leader in burn care, serves as medical director of the Burn and Reconstructive Center of Sunrise Hospital.
Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center and Sunrise Children’s Hospital leaders say they are providing “exceptional, dignified care with compassion” to help patients heal as quickly as possible.
“We saw a growing need to provide comprehensive burn care, allowing us to better serve our patients and the community,” said Todd P. Sklamberg, CEO, Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center and Sunrise Children’s Hospital. “When you bring together our trauma and emergency services expertise, advanced surgical and nursing practice, critical care prowess and the deep knowledge among our rehabilitation services care team members and combine it all with the resources of the world’s largest burn network, it’s truly wonderful news for Nevada and neighboring states.”
The capability within the Burn & Reconstructive Center of Sunrise Hospital includes treatment for all burn types (chemical, electrical, friction/road rash, frostbite, inhalation, radiation and thermal), treatment for hand and upper extremity injuries, hyperbaric oxygen treatment, and skin and soft tissue disorder treatment.
Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center and Sunrise Children’s Hospital offer high quality, patient-centered healthcare to the residents of Southern Nevada, its surrounding region, and the millions of visitors that come to Las Vegas.
