Sunrise Hospital and Sunrise Children’s Hospital Announce this Year’s Frist Humanitarian Award Winners
April 06, 2010
Las Vegas, Nevada - April 6, 2010 --The Frist Humanitarian Award was created by one of the founders of HCA, Dr. Thomas F. Frist to honor and reward outstanding individuals for their humanitarian and volunteer activities. Dr. Frist was a nationally known cardiologist who valued his morals. He was known for his integrity, generosity and someone who went above and beyond his expectations as a caregiver and pushed his coworkers to do the same.
The Frist Humanitarian Award selects employees, physicians and volunteers who are dedicated to philanthropic work. Stand-out individuals in each category are nominated and then recognized locally as well as nationally. Sunrise Hospital and Sunrise Children’s Hospital are proud to announce this year’s local Frist Humanitarian Award winners.
Sunrise Hospital and Sunrise Children’s Hospital Local Frist Humanitarian Award winners are:
Employee Category: Randel Hieb, Cath Lab Technician
“Randy’s big heart carries over into his job as well. Whether it is regarding the safety and concern for his patients or just being an overall ear to listen to, he is there for them.”
– Susan Eliot
Randy’s dedication to charitable work outside of Sunrise Hospital makes him an outstanding candidate for the Frist Award. Among many charitable projects, Randy travels to Mexico to help build orphanages, organizes and hauls furniture for the Bhutanese Refugee outreach and contributes to Back to School outreach projects to provide 1200 backpacks and school supplies for underprivileged children.
Physician Category: Stephanie Davidson, D.O., Adult and Pediatric Anesthesiologist
“She [Dr. Davidson] has built her world around service to others and genuine philanthropy. Without a doubt, she is genuinely concerned for the welfare and happiness of patients.” – Dr. Michael L. Ciccolo
Dr. Stephanie Davidson is passionate about children in need and eagerly embraces numerous charitable causes. She has worked with Operation Smile to help treat children in Mexico and teamed with Three Square Food Bank’s Backpacks, Sunrise Hospital’s 2010 philanthropic partner, providing enough backpacks filled with food for children at one school for a year! Dr. Davidson is also helping Peace for Children Foundation establish playgrounds for underprivileged children.

“Her acts of enormous personal kindness occur during each and every interaction she has with those whose lives she touches in her volunteer duties for breast cancer.” – Paul D. Watts II
Lillie generously volunteers between 50-60 hours per week between Sunrise and A Touch of Hope Foundation. Lillie was very involved in the beginnings of A Touch of Hope Foundation which focuses on women, men and families that are directly affected by breast cancer.
